I’d call myself a beginner to intermediate squash player. I was first introduced to the sport about six years ago, but it was more casual back then. It wasn’t until after COVID that I began playing more regularly, and only at the start of 2025 did I begin proper training.
Each phase of this journey has felt important in its own way.
In the early years, I was simply exploring—testing whether I enjoyed the game enough to stick with it. I wasn’t focused on skill or structure; I just wanted to see if I had the hunger to deal with the game’s difficulty and commit to it as a long-term pursuit.
Once I crossed that threshold and knew I wanted to get better, I began playing against stronger opponents. At that stage, it wasn’t about winning—it was about surviving. I had barely any refined skills, but I was determined. Those matches tested me physically and mentally. They pushed me to endure, to stay in long rallies, and to stay calm when I was completely outplayed.
It’s only in mid-2025 that I started training my mind and body more consciously—getting into the tactical and mental side of squash. That’s when the sport really opened up for me. I began to see the game differently—not just as a series of random shots, but as rallies, tempo shifts, shot selections, and patterns.
This phase, right now, is the most exciting part of my squash journey. I’m finally starting to understand the deeper layers of the game that I had no clue about earlier. And the more I learn, the more I realize how much more there is to explore.
